2017 - Borgo Pignano - Tuscany

In the spring of 2017, I spent three weeks in Tuscany on a painting residency.

The countryside around me was particularly beautiful and I made many quick acrylic sketches and graphite drawings. I then spent the next six months producing more finished works in my studio.

The woodland areas were of particular interest to me. I've always been fascinated by looking through to something partially obscured.

Most of the work shown here was produced in Exeter, however three of the paintings - No1, No2, and No8 - were painted in Tuscany.
